The Non-Fish Catches are Picking Up

But first, shop news…

Have you been fishing Berkley Gulp! Jerk shads?  Have you had success, but felt like a bigger version would be even better than the 5 inch version you were using?  Well, now we have 6 inch Berkley Gulp! Jerk shads available.  Right now, in the bigger size we have any color you want as long as it is white.

The ocean has warmed up slightly, and with that the surf fluke bite has shown proportionate improvement.  As usual, bucktails and Gulp! are the ticket.

There are still some bluefish around.  The reports we are getting are that bait like mullet or bunker chunks have been the best bet to get them.

In the bay, spot and small snapper bluefish are making a good showing.  The crabbing, however, has been very good.  Some nice sized crabs that, two weeks after their last shed, are full of meat.  The clamming has also been great too.  Stop in, grab a rake, and go get them.

Some notable catches:

Our cover shot:  Little Luke had a blast catching Barnegat Bay clams with his uncle Sean Smida and his Dad.  Great job, buddy! Must be the cool hat.

Some nice fluke in the suds. Here’s @ac_tr3 with a nice one from Friday morning.

Pat V does it again. Here he is with a Jersey surf caught cobia on a gulp jerk shad.

Our own Scott and David didn’t want to hit the beach, so they hit the bay for some clams instead.  Scott got 5, David got the rest.

Kurtis Walrath has had a good couple of days on the Blitz performance pencil with bass and a nice blue.

Ray and Sean took some time on their Sunday morning to head out and do some crabbing.  They did well with some very nice, large blueclaws.

Ray had so much fun on his trip going crabbing with Sean, he is calling himself a crabber now.  He even went out and got a costume to wear while crabbing.  Here he is showing how big his crabs are.
