Happy 4th of July
In Shop News…
We just received our first, albeit small, shipment of the much-anticipated new Tsunami SaltX II Spinning reel. Just like the previous generation, it is a fully submersible, fully sealed saltwater fishing reel, with improvements made where improvements could be mace, and keeping all the good stuff where improvements were not needed. We got in the 3000 and 6000 size. 4000 and 8000 sizes will also be available.
The ocean has warmed up from it’s frigid temps in the lower 50’s last week. This warm up has improved the fishing a bit, but to be honest the ocean is still a little chilly. The fluke have been cooperating in the surf, hitting bucktails and Gulp!. The bluefish in the surf have gotten a little scarce, but there are still a few around. Bait like mullet or bunker is your best bet for them. There are also reports of large toothy critters swimming around, so keep an eye on your bait rods. Or don't, we have replacements.
In the bay, the spot have been biting well, and the blowfish are making a showing. The big news is we have been getting reports that the crabbing has been exceptional.
Some Recent Notable Catches:
Hey cool! Here’s the man himself big bass king aka Dominick Talarico with a 23” 5.65 lb fluke caught from the surf.
The video below is a representation of Ray upon his return from vacation last week, at the moment he realizes the size of the order the was placed in his absence with one of our favorite vendors. Details are purposely sparse to protect the identity of the guilty.
