A Good Bite in Negligible Weather
But first, shop news…
Just a reminder, our online Ben Parker Flutter Spoon sales runs until end of day on Wednesday, 4/16. Now is the chance to stock up on a great big fish lure.
We added some new items in the shop and online store, all from Tsunami. The first item is already making some buzz for itself. Check out the Tsunami SaltX HD Jig Heads. With two types of hook keepers, these jig heads work great with all types of soft plastics, anything from the super stretchy and durable Z-Man plastics to standard plastics like Happy Baits Paddletail Grubs to soft stuff like Gulp!.
Next from Tsunami is the SaltX Heavy Swimbait Hooks. Perfect for all sorts of jerk shad and fluke style soft plastics, like Gulp! Jerk Shads, NLBN K-Tails, Big Mullet or Lil Mullet, Lunker City Sluggos or Fin-S Fish, or Zoom Super Flukes. This type of soft plastic rigging is very popular down on the southern Atlantic and Gulf coasts, but is starting to become popular up here for striped bass and weakfish.
We also received two different pairs of pliers. The first are the Tsunami Saltwater Grade 6.5" Hybrid Fisherman's Pliers. These sharp looking multicolor pliers do it all. They are made of lightweight aluminum with titanium coated stainless steel jaws for strength where it counts. They have a needle nose design for unhooking your fish, replaceable side cutters for trimming line or leader material, And they come with lanyard and a sheath for your belt.
The other set of pliers are the Tsunami 6.5" Stainless Split Ring Pliers. These split ring pliers are special. Being stainless, they will be more durable on the boat or beach than your standard split ring pliers. The side cutters and stainless jaws will make them the only rigging pliers you will need to carry. And in a pinch they can replace your regular fishing pliers since they are durable stainless steel.
Even with less than favorable weather lately, the fishing has been good locally. The bass bite has been good all over the bay, including the east side. Blood worms and small plastic lures are working. We are also hearing some starting to take clams in the bay.
We have also been getting some black drum reports. The bite hasn’t fully broke open, but that could happen any minute now. While salted clams will work, fresh clams are a better choice if they decide to be picky eaters. We currently have fresh clams in the shell in the shop.
Some notable recent catches:
Our Cover shot: @lizzyribas on the meat! Throw the snot
Bobby Bullock and Brittany were on the bass at night on bloodworms. All caught in the local bay.
@john_fed5 sent us this shot of a beautiful drum he landed in the rain. As expected, the drum have made their way into the bay—we’ve had a few other reports roll in too. Right now, fresh clams are key.
Scott locked up the shop and quickly was on fish locally this weekend—and what a sunset to go with it.
@david_eurell - punch the clock, punch the bass clock.
This is what it’s all about! Rob and Jayceon just got this young man’s first striped bass on blood worms.
