Bass And Drum And A New Look

First, shop news…

We have a new website going live very soon.  Maybe as soon as later tonight.  You may even be reading this on the new website now.  For those resistant to change, don’t worry.  It’s the same great products and services, with a shiny new coat of “paint”.  Since we could not test with all possible hardware and software combinations, if you do happen to see something that is not working for you, please let us know at this page:  Contact Us.

We added one new item to the shop recently.  This Jigging World Mini 5" Magnetic Stainless Steel Dehooker.  What sets this dehooker apart from others is the magnet attachement.  You can hang it from your belt, or a convenient spot on your boat where it is easily accessible and a quick tug releases the dehooker from the magnet.  To put it back, just put the magnets together again.

Yakkity Yaks is opening their rental books on May 1st.  What does that mean?  If you want to rent a kayak or paddleboard you can as of May 1st.  Just go to this page:  https://njkayaks.com/pages/rentals to see what they have available and reserve your kayak.

The fishing through the weekend remained basically the same as what we saw last week.  Some nice striped bass were being caught on the surf with clams, while the bass in Barnegat Bay were taking both cams and some artificial lures.  Also in the bay, clams were taking some nice black drum.

Now, to fuel the rumor mill.  We have heard of some bluefish being around.  Your best bet to get them to hit is fish fresh cut bunker at the end of the outgoing tide in the bay.  That is when you get the warmest water, as the water temps during any other tide are giving them lockjaw.  The other rumor we also heard is there are some funny looking spotted fish around.  No, not the flat brown spotted ones (though we wouldn’t be surprised if a few of those were showing up too).  The silver ones with black spots and yellow mouths.  What were they called again?

Some notable recent catches:

Our cover shot:  Amelia was tagging along with big brother Mikey today. She showed him a thing or two reeling in her 1st keeper together with Mikey’s help. Awesome Job both of you!

Dinia with a beach bass! This bass was caught on clam and she dropped two others.

Robert Sanders caught this nice clean bass on a Fresh Grumpy Clam from the IBSP surf

There’s still plenty of fish in the bay for those looking. Here’s Sam Goff with a bass

@nick_.carrera got into some stud drum Saturday night in the Bay

Derek Lopez found drum bayside Sunday

Eric Levy with a birthday bass! Happy 58th! 31” 11.35 lbs!

Scott at Yakkity Yaks is doing everything he can to drive the kayak and paddleboard rentals, as you can see below.  Don’t be fooled by the fish, that’s not what you get to kiss.
