The Approach Of TS Debby
First, shop news:
ODM has released a special color for their immensely popular Evolution Surf rods. The new finish is a gold blank with an interference copper / red look to them, depending on the angle and the light source. These are beautiful, and will only be available for a limited time. Besides the color, the blanks are the same high performing blank you know and love from the evolution line up. There are 9 foot, 10 foot and 11 foot blanks available. We only have a limited amount, so we are limiting these to in-store only. (As they are one piece blanks over 96 inches, we wouldn't be able to cost effectively ship them anyway). These will not last long, so if you want one, drop in and see Bob as soon as possible to get in his queue.
The fishing the past few days were showing signs of improvement with the water showing signs of warming up. The fluke bite in the surf was really showing signs of life. The new Lucky Craft Pointers were working well, while bucktails and Gulp! were making up respectful catches.
Even with the improving ocean fishing, the bay is the place to be if you want to put a good catch together. The spot are still all over the bay taking FishBites on sabiki rigs, or even perch/blowfish rigs. The snapper blues are showing up in good numbers too. Grab a pack of spearing, some hooks and a bobber to target them. The crabbing remains excellent in the bay.
So what is the weekend going to bring? Friday is looking like a washout in the surf. If you can tolerate wind and rain, the back bay would be the spot to fish. The ocean will probably be a bit disturbed Saturday, but conditions will be improving by then, so Saturday might be another day to stick to the bay. Sunday is looking like a good day all around.
Some local notable catches:
Graig with a beautiful 22 3/4” 4.0LB fluke caught on the Lucky Craft Pointers off the surf.
