Yak Sales, Mountains of Reels, and a Fishing Report
But first, not shop news. Wait, what? Yup. We are instead starting with our neighbor’s shop news…
Next door to the shop, Yakkity Yaks Kayak Rentals is starting their annual clearance sale this Saturday, 8/26. Doors will open at 8:30 am. Get there early for the best deals. If you have been on the fence about getting a kayak, there will be no better time to buy one than at this sale.
Now shop news…
Look at Scott’s face. Why does he look so happy? He loves when huge orders come into the shop, and we just got in a huge order of Penn Reels.
For some reason, pink shine Gulp! Grubs in the 6 inch variety have been difficult to find. We just finally got our backorder in. We don’t know when they are coming in again, so get some while the getting is good…
We have added a new item from Hogy. We have added their Perfect Tube for those who want to troll tube and worm. It’s a strange technique that just works. Pro tip, if you don’t have sandworms, you can use FishBites or an Otter Tail in its place.
The surf fishing remains about the same as last report. Fluke on bucktails and Gulp!, bluefish on mullet or small metals, Spanish mackerel and false albacore on epoxy jigs.
The back bay has been producing lots of snapper blues, spot and some blowfish.
The big news on the fishing front is the amount of bait that is staging up inside of the inlets. Mullet, peanut bunker, spearing and rainfish have all been sighted and are getting ready to start their fall migration. Stay tuned…
For those keeping track, Ray will not be in the shop again next week. He is on his third or fourth annual camping trip. He’s been looking forward to this one. He is already wearing the special hat he has for the party.
