They have arrived...

Ok, first, shop news before we get to the good news…

I guess enough of our customers bugged Ray that he went ahead and announced our annual Grumpy Santa event.  For those unfamiliar, this is our annual fundraising event for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Come in, sit on Grump’s lap, get a piece of candy and have your picture taken, all for whatever donation you would like to give.  It will run on December 10th and 11th, and Grump will be sitting for pictures from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm each day.  Mark your calendars, you won’t want to miss this.

And while we are on the subject of the upcoming holidays, the gift baskets we had last year were very popular.  And we listened to the folks who live further from the shop and wanted one.  We have them again this year, and we have made them available online to ship anywhere in the country.  We have two options, one with fluke and blackfish tackle geared towards you bottom fishing boat angler, and one with striped bass and bluefish gear for the surf fishing anglers out there.  All information, including the contents, can be found in the online store listing.

Not holiday related, we have added a new hot product.  We now have “The Bone” stickbaits from Jigging World available in the shop and online.  Big plastic spook style lures have been taking more than their fair share of big striped bass along the north Atlantic coast.  Get one and get in on the action.

ODM was in the house the other day and we have restocked on most rods.  We also restocked on the popular ODM Surfwave 2.5 tube Bag

As far as the fishing goes, the striped bass that we were hearing about to the north of us have shown up here.  We only had a few anglers go through the shop this morning, but had a bunch of weigh ins and photo submissions, more than we would have expected with the number of people we saw in the morning.

Bunker is still the bait of choice, and is still outfishing lures, but lures are making some headway.  If you are going to fish lures, bucktails with a trailer, Yo-Zuri Mag Daters and swim shads have been working.

Here are some notable catches:

@d.shelkin found some fish today. "Schoolies for days."

@theochupein13 had 8 bass to 34” on bucktails.  Here are two…

Here’s Tim Scattergood and Dennis Davis with a pair of Bass to 10.25lbs. Look at the other photos. They also released bass to over 40” on Fresh Bunker.

Bob Pierson found some bass on bunker chunks.

Nick and Sabrina Salanitro with bass to 12.10lbs on Fresh Bunker. They reported 6 Bass this Wednesday afternoon.

After spending all day Tuesday on a boat catching nothing but dogfish (with unfounded, groundless, unsubstantiated reports of him getting seasick in his Yeti coffee mug), our own Scotty found them on the beach Wednesday using his favorite plug, a Yo-Zuri Mag Darter.

@kburger1974 on a Yo-Zuri Mag Darter.

 And last but not least, on our cover shot, our very own Sean had some bites locally tonight, all on artificials.

The arrival of fish has done wonders for the mood around Grumpys. Specifically, Ray’s mood.  Here is Ray the day before the fish arrived.

And here is Ray when the fish arrived.
