Perch Action Heating Up
First, shop news. Thanks to everyone who showed up for Surf Day. It was a great show, as usual. Thanks to the Jersey Shore Surfcasters for putting on such a great event.
Our next event will be our in-house seminar series this Saturday, March 24th. It will be a talk on Targeting Backwater Striped Bass with our very own Scott. It starts at 3:00 at the shop. We have had a lot of interest so seating will be first come, first served.
We received a small shipment of Tsunami’s hot new surf rods, the Salt X II surf rods. These are sweet. Built with all high quality components (Fuji reel seat, Fuji titanium guides) on a quality Halo Carbon blank, the Salt X II rods were designed to cast braided lines. In 4 sizes, from 7’7” to 10’7”, there is a model for any of your lure casting needs.
The fishing in the surf is slow, but we do have some good news to report. The white perch bite has picked up in the estuaries that connect to Barnegat Bay. There are also small stripers there so keep in mind that the season is still closed, and any striped bass need to be returned to the water as quickly as possible. We have perch rigs available and blood worms stocked in the shop.
Ray is tired. He had a tough weekend. Surf Day took a lot out of him (even though he wasn’t even there…)
