Memorial Day Weekend Recapitulation

On a weekend that gets celebrated as the “unofficial start of summer” and is known for backyard barbeques and parties in beach towns, we hope you took a moment to recognize what the holiday is for, and that you remembered and honored those in our military who gave all for our freedoms.

Now, on to shop news.

Do you have a Portarod Inshore Rod Holder for your truck?  Do you have more rods than it currently holds?  Now we have the add on Portarod Single Rod holder so you can add more rod holders to your Portarod.  We also have the Offshore single rod holders for the Portarod Offshore Rod holder.

We have new, updated die-cut Grumpys Logo Stickers.  They are the prefect size to add to your phone case or your coffee mug.  They are outdoor vinyl so you can use them on your truck, boat or cooler.  Show off your love for Grumpys Tackle with this versatile decal.

We received a restock of The Jig Box.  These are the perfect box to hold either your fluke jigs, bass jigs, or tog jigs in a way that keeps them organized and doesn’t mess up and bucktail on them.  Check them out.

The fishing remains good.  The bass are still eating clams in the surf, the bluefish are still eating mullet or cut bunker in the surf, and the fluke are still taking bucktails & Gulp! in the surf.  The black drum are still here but appear to be thinning out, so this strange run of drum might be winding down (though we have said that before and had them all show up in a new spot…)

For those who like to fish lures, the blues are taking poppers in the surf while the bass are taking plastic swimmers in the surf in low light conditions.

In the bay, blues are hitting poppers and spooks, while boats fishing the channels are getting fluke on bucktails and Gulp!

Some recent notable catches:

Our cover shot is @babyash.x0 with a blue from Friday.

@n1ck.cucchiara found a hungry blue on clam Saturday.

Scott, @lizzyribas, @give_me_fin_ and Chloe had a good day on the fluke grounds with keepers up to 3 lbs.

Allan Bailey had a nice multi species day on an SP minnow.

Shell E. with a nice shore caught 3.0lb Fluke on Monday.

Paul Vong with a 32” 10 lb blue caught on a popper in the surf

@thiccbasstv got a nice 22 inch Fluke on the high low rig with nuclear chicken Gulp! in Barnegat Bay.

Nick pet didn’t let the rainy Monday weather get him down, he got a nice 9.85 35.5” blue on a NLBN Shad.

This was a weekend for backyard barbeques, unless you work in tackle shop.  However, if you OWN a tackle shop, you still get to go to a barbeque.  And those barbeques are HOT!
