Happy Veteran's Day
As usual, shop news.
We are having a special in-shop promotion for our Veteran’s and active duty service members. On Friday, just let the Grumpys Associate at the register know you are a veteran or active duty and they will knock 10% off your order.
Last report we mentioned several new Yo-Zuri lures added to the website. We have one more, because we added it the day after the report. Check out the Yo-Zuri Crystal 3D Shrimp. This hard bait from Yo-Zuri with lifelike rubber legs, pulsating and tough holographic Mylar tinsel tail, and slow falling action has the look of a real swimming shrimp. Unlike the rubber shrimp imitations, bluefish won’t destroy these easily. And in case you are wondering why we have shrimp lures at Grumpys, as we keep saying, EVERYTHING EATS SHRIMP.
We added some Grn.Head Gliders to the shop and the site on Wednesday. As is what usually happens with gliders, they sold fast. There are still a few left online, and a few left in the store.
So, you are here to see how the fishing has been? Not as good as it was a couple weeks ago, but not bad. We have had reports of people who got into them good, and reports of people who were skunked. What's the difference? The people who got into them moved around and found them. Those that got skunked, well, they didn't...
Bunker was the best bait, though clams did claim a fish or two. Lures were working in low/no light conditions, with large Yo-Zuri Mag Darters getting the most love.
We are still a few days from the full opening of blackfish here in NJ, so there are not a lot of anglers trying with a limit of one fish. When the full season opens on November 16th, we expect to see more participation. However, the anglers going out now are getting some really nice tog. Green crabs on S&S Bucktails White Chin Wreckers are the way to go.
Here are some notable catches:
Christian found some fish Tuesday night. He reported a very good bite locally on plugs.
Bruce Morano caught this 14.7 lb 32” fish on a Yo-Zuri mag darter. It was bigger than Mike Morano’s fish from last week. We think his new hat had everything to do with it.
Our good friend @mannyd123 with one of the biggest bass reported this year. He caught it locally on bunker.
Stan left the shop Thursday evening and landed this 34 inch bass on fresh bunker on his first cast.
For anyone coming to the shop on Sunday, it will be Connor’s birthday that day. Stop back in the rod building area and wish him a happy birthday. (Oh yeah, Ray gets a break this report…)
