Recovering from the sale…

Its like a little bit of the hair of the dog that bit us.  We are blowing out Fin Strike Rigs on the website.  All Fin Strike pre-tied rigs and pre-snelled hooks are 30% the listed price, just enter code FINSTRIKE30 at checkout to apply the discount.  This will continue as long as supplies last.  Now is a good time to stock up on rigs for fluke season, or especially for the upcoming blackfish season, which starts this Friday.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the sale last weekend.  Scabelly sold out in less than 30 minutes.  We released the Big Rock plugs later in the day on Saturday and they sold out nearly as quickly.  The seminars were a big hit, and is something we will be continuing for future in-store events.

In terms of store news, we had a nice shipment come in from Rapala.  In that shipment, we added two new colors to the Xrap line up, Hot Purple and Olive Green.  We also added another lure from the Rapala line up, the Saltwater Xrap Magnum Divebait.  Advertised as a high speed trolling lure, these deep diving plastic swimmers will swim from a slow speed to speeds up to 13 knots.  That makes them perfect for anything from striped bass to tuna.  The guys who troll from kayaks up in Raritan Bay are going to love the Mag10 and Mag15 models.

As far as the fishing goes, it has been unseasonably cold lately.  We are not sure if the temps have affected the fish, the fishermen or both.  Anglers who have gone out have caught striped bass, so we have our theories.  Lures like Kettle Creek Shads, Tsunami Holographic Swim Shads, Storm Wildeye Swim Shads and Rapala Xraps are still taking a majority of the fish.  As for bait, blood worms are still the best choice.

Barnegat Bay has been producing fish, but we have started to hear murmurs that a bay north of the shop has it’s run of striped bass starting.  For those who wanna go…

We had one picture submitted from an angler that wished to remain unidentified. Looks like that fish fell for a soft plastic rigged on an S&S Bucktails Northeast jig head.

Ray told us in the shop today that he was doing a lifestyle change.  Based on what he was wearing, we held any further questions…
