They’re BAAAACCCKKKK!
A quicky report for today, since we got some nice news. But first, some shop news.
Someone came into the shop on Sunday afternoon looking for clam rakes. At the time, we didn’t have any in stock. Sorry buddy, you were one day too early. On Monday, we received a shipment of “Killer Clam Rakes”. These were the hottest clam rakes last year, and we had trouble keeping them on the shelves. We have both the large and regular sizes available.
This upcoming Sunday (4/10) we are having a St. Croix Rod Demo Day at Grumpys! Come throw the full lineup of Surf Rods from 11am-2pm. One lucky person that attends this event will win a FREE St. Croix SEAGE Surf Rod!
As far as the fishing goes, we have some good news. The back bay is still producing fish, and its getting better. The fish are being found all over the bay (not just the "west side and rivers and creeks that feed the bay"), anglers are catching more of them, and they are getting bigger.
Manuel DaSilva got a nice one at dusk today in the bay.
And we have even better news!
We got reliable reports of striped bass being caught in the surf. The fish in the surf are smaller, and small paddletails such as kettle creek shads, Tsunami holographic swim baits, Storm Wildeye Swim Shads, or Vudu shads worked slow in the surf was the ticket.
A little known fact about Ray. Even though he owns a saltwater tackle shop, he spends a lot of time fishing unsalted water for green fish. He snuck out of work today and got a few. He shared a few pictures on social media. Here is one.
He also shared a selfie video. Here it is:
