The Striped Bass Run Continues
We shall be returning to our regular scheduled picking on Ray, but first, shop news…
We have added the new Shimano Vanford A spinning reels to the site. Shimano’s lighter version of the popular Stradic has been updated for 2024. Pair one of these with a light custom rod built by Bob and you’ll have a super light combo that you can fish all day & night.
I can’t believe it took us this long to make this classic lure available online. We now have the Luhr-Jensen Crippled Herring available on the site. You know, it’s called a herring, but that profile is awfully close to a peanut bunker. Just saying…
How is the fishing? Judging by the number of pictures below from Monday until the writing of this report, it is pretty darn good. The bite has been on either metal lipped swimmers or sand eel imitations, depending on what bait the bass are on. There are both bunker and sand eels in the area. The other thing we know is that you need to be mobile. The anglers moving around and hunting for the bite are doing better than the anglers camping out in one spot for the day. The fish are rewarding those putting the work in (though we will admit it always helps to be lucky…).
Some notable recent catches:

They are chewing in the wash on sandeels. @skimebob braved the long awaited rain and was rewarded with dinner. Don’t be a fair weather fisherman, the fish are already wet they don’t care.
So, some of you may have noticed that no one has been picking on Ray in the fishing reports lately. That’s because Ray has been writing the reports for the last two months. Ray could have picked on anyone in his reports, but he is too nice for that. I, however, am back, and I am not as nice as Ray. So, first…
And now to Ray. I don’t know why, but Ray is sad lately. Is it the rain? Is it always having to deal with Scott? Is it because he has become a feature in the fishing reports again? Who knows…
