Same Old (Good) Fishing, But Some New Stuff In Shop
But first, shop news…
We now have Century Surf rods available online. We carry three models, the Slingshot, the Stealth and SurfMachine Elite. Century makes top-of-the-line surf rods with great thought put into their performance. These are worth checking out.
Are you hoping that Squid/Tuna bite happens again this summer? We are planning on it. We have added two new Squid jigs from Yo-Zuri. The Yo-Zuri Ultra 3D Laser DX M2 Squid Jig, a glow-in-the-dark squid jig with large eyes. They come in two sizes and are perfect for rigging on a tandem rig. The other jig is very interesting. The Yo-Zuri Ultra Metal Squid Jig is a heavy jig that can be fished alone, or used in place of the sinker on a standard single or tandem squid rig for more opportunities to catch a squid. Don't wait until squid jigs get scarce like last year.
Just a reminder, we are into bug season. Do you have your Captain Rons?
The fishing remains very good. The biggest news remains bluefish. They have been running through the surf and if you find them on the feed, you are in for a good time. They are hitting poppers and swimmers for those throwing lures. For those looking for a more relaxing day, soaking mullet or cut bunker will produce a nice catch.
Striped bass are still in the surf, and they are still taking clams.
Fluke in the surf are hitting bucktails and Gulp!. They are in close, so don’t try casting to Portugal while trying for these.
The bay is producing some nice crabs, and for those giving it a shot, fluke and bluefish are being caught down a little south of us in the bay.
Here are some notable catches:
Our Cover shot: Heather Ott with a beautiful 24” 5.6 lb fluke caught on the boat!
Fiona Coar made her old man proud on Father’s Day with a 29 inch 9.5 pound striped bass caught on salted clams.
@uncle_willie_g found some fluke in the surf Monday.
@scub4_stev3 got some bluefish on Monday
Chris found some back bay fluke on the kayak up to 4.95 pounds.
Just a reminder, Ray has gone camping this week. So you know what that means…
