PB Season...
First, shop news…
We have new long sleeve t-shirts. Forget the tired old t-shirts of yesteryear with graphics you can get just about anywhere. These are fresh. We have four colors (Black, Carolina Blue, Military Green and Safety Green (essentially, chartreuse)) with the refreshed Grumpys Logo on the front and back. And we also now have them from size Small to 4X-Large. Yup, we got the big folks covered. Check them out online or come into the store and see them for yourself.
We also have new sweatshirts. Just like the new long sleeve t-shirts, they have the refreshed Grumpys logo and go all the way up to size 4x. We currently only have them n Military Green (Olive).
We added a few new items to keep you warm because “Winter Is Coming” as follows:
We now have the Fish Monkey Yeti Fleece Balaclava to keep your head, face and neck warm on the coldest days.
If you don’t need to keep your whole head warm, or you already have a winter hat you really like, you can opt for the Fish Monkey Yeti Fleece Face Guard, which will cover your face and neck.
And we are not only concentrating on your head. We have your feet covered too with the Fish Monkey Yeti Heavyweight Merino Wool Boot-Crew Socks. These are great warm socks for under deck boots and waders.
We added a new item for the budget conscious angler. This item will also be a nice addition to compliment your regular pliers. What are they? They are the Combo Split Ring / Needlenose Mini Fishing Pliers With Line cutter. That is a mouthful for a little 5 inch plier, but it has a bunch of uses. I personally grabbed one and plan to use it as a split ring plier and line cutter while out on the water.
So how is the fishing? If you find the fish, you have a good chance of scoring a PB striped bass. PB being "Personal Best". There are not a ton of fish around, but the ones that are here are nice. You need to work for them. Bucktails, SP Minnows, Mag Darters, and metal lips have all been taking them, but it seems lately the swim shad has become the star of the show.
The blackfishing has also been good, with nice fish being taken on blackfish jigs tipped with green crabs of sand crabs.
Some notable recent catches:
The 1st fall push of big bass is moving south. Some absolute pigs in the surf right now. Shell E Caris landed this one Wednesday morning. Measured at 47” and took a Tsunami Shad. Put your time in and stay on the move.
Jim Leone from the Folsom Corporation testing the new tsunami forged surf rod series with a beautiful fall striped bass taken on Old Reliable, the six and a half inch deep tsunami pearl white shads.. which mimics the action and profile of the bait perfectly! Nice fish Jim!
The weekend weather, for something like the 7th weekend in a row, does not look great. Ray has had about enough of it…
