Mullet Are Here!

First, shop news...

We got in our first load of fresh mullet Monday evening just as we closed.  We are also expecting another load of mullet Tuesday morning.  The mullet run has officially started.  Come on in and grab a dozen or two or get out there with your cast net and collect your own.

We have added a few new BKK Hooks to the store and website.  For those who are in the process of replacing trebles, we now have the BKK Feathered Spear 22-SS Treble Hook.  These make great tail hooks for your smaller plugs and metals.

We also added the BKK Monster Circle Hooks for those running offshore for tuna.  We have added the regular Monster Circle to complement the Monster Circle Drift Special, for those who don’t want or need the added swivel.

We added a few new, smaller sizes in the BKK Fangs 63-UA Treble Hook lineup.

We have restocked on Daiwa BG MQ reels, Shimano Twinpower XD reels, Korker Rocktrax and chum pots.

As far as fishing goes, the fluke fishing in the surf remains good.  It actually may have improved a bit without all of the summer swimmers pounding their feet on the sandbars.  Bucktails and Gulp! are still the way to go.

The other big news is the false albacore bite has really picked up.  Epoxy jigs with a fast retrieve are the way to go with them.

For this upcoming week, we are keeping an eye on the tropical system named Lee, which is predicted to become a large hurricane and may affect our area.  At the very least we will see a groundswell from it and may see some significant sized waves in the surf.  Please be careful.  Definitely don’t go swimming and be very careful how far out you wade in the wash.

Some recent catches:

@jessepallocska and @jordanethan89 had no problem filling their limit. Fluke up to 20” on Gulp!. Beaches are empty and the fluke are plenty.

Lou Defonteny with an island beach limit. Fluking out front appears to be hot lately with many customers making quick work of their limit. Grab some Gulp! and get out there.

The Albies were in full force this morning locally! Here’s Adam Caris with a nice one caught on a Hogy Epoxy Jig.

Ray heard the mullet run has started, so he went and got a new haircut.
