More Mullet Season
First, shop news.
Call him Dante. He is responsible for all of the fine offerings from Magictail Outfitters, and he has sent us another great product. Introducing the Magictail Outfitters line of premium spook lures, with names inspired by Herman Mellville’s Moby Dick. Leave it to Magictail to inject some academia into fishing. Don’t let any of that fool you however, you don’t need to read the book to fish these. They are serious plugs for serious anglers. Wooden spooks with through wire construction and a nice finish, they will hold up to the tougher fish we have out there. There are 3 sizes, the Stubb at 5.5 inches, the Ahab at 7.5 inches, and the Moby Dick at 9.5 inches. Come get some now before the fall striped bass run starts
We have restocked on Salty C’s lures. Everything from pencil poppers to swimmers to gliders, though not all colors, sorry. We kept our color order simple with the basic popular fish catching colors.
Have you all noticed it has become a lot cooler at night lately? It might be time to pick up a new long sleeve t-shirt, or a new sweatshirt. Soon it will be time to break out the warm socks and gloves. We have the stuff to help keep you warm.
The fluke fishing in the surf remains good, with fish still falling for Lucky Craft Pointer DD jerk baits, and, as they always have, bucktails and Gulp! The bluefish are still in the surf and taking fresh mullet, small metals and epoxy jigs. Spanish mackerel and bonito are also taking the epoxy jigs.
There are also some small striped bass showing up in the surf. Small plastic swimmers and small metals are working for them.
The big fluke are still in the bay, and the biggest ones are taking live spot. Luckily spot are still biting on the local docks on Fishbites.
The bait is currently stacked in the bay, mullet, spearing, peanut bunker and rainfish, per the reports we are getting and what we are personally seeing. When this all starts moving, it could be epic.
Some notable recent catches:
Our cover shot: Our very own @wefish138 with a beautiful 24.5” 5.45LB Fluke caught on his kayak on a live spot. We can confirm neither @david_eurell nor @lizzyribas caught it for him, so spot must be one heck of a good fluke bait.
@anthonyrocco76 found some Spanish Mackerel Thursday morning.
As mullet season is still going strong, here is another picture of Ray with a mullet. This is probably the most accurate version of a mullet that Ray could grow.
