January Calendar Of Events

But first, shop news…

We have a new item available in the shop that anglers have been patiently waiting for since iCAST.  The new Tsunami SaltX II with ArmourTech.  If you haven’t seen the video yet, check it out below.  If you are not one to watch videos, someone has a SaltXII with ArmourTech and is punishing it with a knife.  When they are done there are no visible scratches on the reel.  If you are tough on your tackle, you want to check these out

We have a couple of events coming up.  First is Ladies Night.  Our own Jenni Ackerman is going to be hosting this night geared toward the female angler.  Jenni will go over everything from the basics to advanced techniques to land large fish.  The event takes place Saturday January 18th from 5:00 to 6:00 pm at Grumpys Tackle.  All are welcome.

The following weekend we will be having our annual winter sales event.  Details on the specials we will be running will be released later next week, but right now we can let you in on two things.  First, there will be two custom plug builders at the shop with their stuff.  First will be Scabelly, who really needs no introduction.  Here is one of the rare chances to get one of his plugs and get to speak to him directly.  Wanna know the best retrieve for one of his gliders, this is the day to ask.  Joining Scabelly will be Swimduck Lures.  Justin will be bringing a variety of his lures, pencils, swimmers and handcarves.  Don’t miss out on a chance to get one of these.

We will also be having some seminars.  Shel E Caris will be speaking about fishing the surf, a subject where he has forgotten more on the subject than most people currently know.  Following that will be Mike Kim from Jigging World talking about jigging for large blackfish.  Last, and certainly not least, is our own Scott talking about fishing the back bay for fluke by boat, kayak and from shore.  No purchase necessary to attend any of these seminars, you just need to show up.

So how is the fishing?  About the best fishing we have heard of locally is the blackfishing from some of the local party and charter boats that are still sailing.  This is the time of year we hear about white perch in the back bay, but the water has had varying levels of ice on it, so the white perch anglers have been scarce.

You may or may not have noticed Ray was out for a couple of days.  He says it was for a sleep study but we here at Grumpys suspect he is not being completely truthful.  While we do believe he had electrodes wired to his brain, we are thinking there is a scientific study for something else.  Since when does a sleep study take three days?  Frank since it is a study about seasonal depression.  John thinks it is a study about the brainwaves of rabid fandoms (specifically Washington Commanders fandoms).  Bob thinks it is a study of the affects of the brain from dealing with Scott day in and day out.  Bob may be right.
