It's Like Someone Flipped a Switch
But first, shop news.
Grumpy Santa weekend is fast approaching. We will be collecting donations for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Each year we have been able to collect a nice chunk of change for the kids and their families. Let’s make it an even bigger chunk this year. Speaking of chunk, there will be baked goods for sale with proceeds going to the charity. And some interestingly flavored candy canes for those who get their picture with Grumpy Santa.
If you are looking to attend, Grumpy Santa will be in the shop from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm both Saturday and Sunday for pictures. Come in with your favorite child, or least favorite child, your pet (dog, cat, Guinea pig, hamster, alpaca, etc…), or just by yourself for a picture with him. C’mon, look at that face. Wouldn’t you want to be in a picture with that?
As promised, we got the Light Out Lures Donnys up on the site on Monday. New colors, now with scales, are available.
We have restocked the Danco Premio Pliers, one of the nicest titanium pliers on the market and an excellent bang for the buck compared to other high end pliers. For someone needing a pair of pliers that are easier on the wallet, but still want good quality, we have the Danco Lunar-I 7.5" Aluminum Pliers. They come with a molded sheath and belt clip, and are aluminum with stainless steel jaws. The tungsten carbine cutters will cut braid, fluor and mono, and the tip of the pliers will open split rings.
How is the fishing? Well, the reports we have been getting back have been few & far between. We are not sure if this is because the fish are now few and far between, or the anglers are few and far between, as angler participation has dropped tremendously. We think it might be a little of both. We have heard of fish here and there, and we have seen winters where the fishing lulled and then picked up again as another wave of fish moved in. The sand eels are still here so there is food for them when the come by.
Everyone in the shop is excited for Grumpy Santa weekend. Ray is dressing up for it. His costume isn’t finalized but he thinks he is going to be an elf. Like this:

Bob’s costume was finalized quickly…
