Happy Eclipse Day!
First, shop news…
We are having a rod demo this upcoming weekend. We will have all the surf rods from ODM Rods, the new Tsunami SaltX II lineup, RH Custom Rods and the new Daiwa Blackline Surf Rods to test out. Come on out and test cast what might be your new rod. Bring your own reel(s) so you know exactly how well the rod will cast for you. See the pictures above for the schedule.
We are also going to have a sale event running along with the rod demo. Details on that to follow.
We added more new stuff from Jigging World to the shop and online store. First, we now have the Jigging World Fluke Soon Rigs. Spoons catch big fluke, and these are tied and ready to go.
We also added the Jigging World Titan Circle Hooks. These are strong inline circle hooks, so they will be legal for striped bass. They are also going to be very popular with the tuna fishermen if there is a chunk or squid bite on the bluefin grounds this year.
The striped bass bite in the bay is still going well on blood worms. The lure bite at night has shown some improvement, but blood worms are still your best bet.
On the oceanside, we are hearing more and more that fish are showing up. Clams are the way to go for oceanside fish, but any bass worth its stripes won’t say no to a blood worm no matter where they see it.
Also, we heard some hush-hush rumors about bluefish entering a nearby inlet. No confirmations yet, but we figured you may want to know.
So how did everyone like the eclipse? Now, c’mon and admit it, you looked up at least once without eclipse glasses, didn’t you? So did Ray. But, like a Grumpys version of Icarus, he looked a little too long. He’s paying for it now. (Yes, it’s a three-for this report…)
