Grumpy Santa is BACK!!!

We have a big weekend coming up here at Grumpys Tackle.  After a one year lay off due to the pandemic, the …

Grumpy Santa Event Is Back!!!!!!!!

This has always been a popular event here at Grumpys, and we are very glad we are able to do it again this year.  This weekend, December 18th and December 19th, between 7:00 am and noon both days, come into the shop to get your picture sitting on Grumpy Santa Hisself’s lap and pick up your complimentary candy cane, but watch out, some candy canes will have some funny flavors.

So why do we do this?  During the event we collect money for St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  We believe St Jude has an important mission and ask you all to come out and help support them. The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of their founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay. Because of this, they need our support.

We are also doing something else special for our customers during the weekend.  We heard from many of you that you missed our Black Friday to Cyber Monday sale because you were too busy chasing fish during the Thanksgiving blitzes.  Trust us, we get it, and we don’t blame you at all.  You made the right decision.  So for those who missed out, we are running another sale.  All Grumpys apparel, all Berkley Gulp!, all S&S Bucktails products, and the Grumpys Sandstorm line of surf rods are all 20% off.  This will run both in store and online.  To apply the discounts online use the code STJUDES21 at checkout.

And if it turns out this weekend that there are blitzes every time we run a sale, well, you’re welcome. 😊

As far as the fishing goes, the reports have gone way down.  We have experienced both our typical “but the bell rang” attitude to fishing after Thanksgiving.  We may also be experiencing a slowdown from satiation during the good fishing Thanksgiving weekend and couple good days afterwards that followed.  Regardless as to why, there are still fish around.  They are not as numerous as Thanksgiving, so you are going to have to work a little bit to find them, but when you do, they are eating.  Sand eel-like imitations are working, including ava jigs, Bill Hurley Sand Eels, and Tsunami Sand eels.  Don’t forget the teasers too.

Members of the Berkley Striper Club, including our very own Scott, were out on Island Beach State Park yesterday evening helping Monmouth University catch and tag some striped bass.  After hopping a few spots in the park, they found the fish and Monmouth was able to deploy their acoustic tags

I usually end the fishing report by embarrassing Ray or at least attempting to embarrass him.  You figure by now he would be kind of immune from embarrassment.  Well, today I am not going to do that.  Today I have a guest “embarasser of Raymond”, our very own Jenni, who supplied this picture she took of Ray.  No story, the picture is entertaining on its own.

While she was at it, she did the same thing to Scott…

(One day I may ask her to guest-write the whole fishing report).
