Grumpy Santa and the Striper
First, shop news.
Grumpys Santa event is coming up! Not this weekend, but next weekend December 14th and December 15th. Grumpy Santa will be in from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm each day to take pictures with kids, pets, or even bunker-stinking anglers. We will be collecting money for St Judes (and we will take donations even after Grumpy Santa goes back to his ice cave). We will have all kinds of in-store fun too, including bake sales, delicious (and some not-so delicious) candy canes, and more.
We have few new Aquaseal items for you. This is the time of year waders get a lot of use, and abuse. Replacing them is expensive, returning them and waiting for new ones takes a while, and going without them is out of the question for everyone except for maybe people born in Siberia. So what do you do? Repair them. We restocked on the Aquaseal FD Repair Kit and the Aquaseal FD Repair Adhesive (plus added a new 8 oz size for big repairs). We also added the Aquaseal FD Repair Adhesive And Cure Accelerator for those of you in a rush, the Aquaseal SR Shoe Repair Adhesive for boots that are coming apart, and Aquaseal NEO Neoprene Contact Cement for repairing wetsuits and neoprene waders.
We have restocked on Van Staal reels, both bailed and bail-les, in both colors. Just in time for the holidays! Get your favorite angler the best surf reel available and make this their best holiday yet.
We have restocked Lights Out Lures, the PNuts, Dannys and Donnys are available in store, and currently the first two are available online. The Donnys, unfortunately, have to wait until Monday for their online availability.
The fishing still remains good, but the cold weather has really cut down on angler participation. Those who have braved the frigid temperatures have found fish. What is working depends on what bait is in the area. Avas and Bill Hurley sand eels are the hot tickets when the sand eels are on the menu. When the bass are chasing bunker, pencil poppers or metal lip swimmers are the ticket. Choose lure sizes that match the size bunker the fish are feeding on.
