Fish? Yes. Fishermen? Not so much...

We have a short report (relatively) for you today.  It seems after a long holiday weekend, a lot of you must be “recovering”, as we didn’t see a lot of participation today.  But those who went out got some fish.

What we heard from the surf was that the bass are still grazing, making bait the best bet.  Salted clams are getting more fish, fresh bunker is getting bigger fish.  We have both in stock.  If you like throwing lures, Kettle Creek Shads, SP Minnows and Mag Darters are the lures to try.

We also got reports of bluefish in the surf, on a beach north of the shop.  They were hitting metal and bunker chunks.

The blue are still in the bay hitting topwater lures and bunker chunks.

We keep hearing reports of blowfish in the bay, tearing up the Gulp! the fluke fishermen are using.  If you want to target them, small hooks (like on a flounder rig) baited with small pieces of salted clam or fish bites will work.

The fluke are still biting too.  The back bays continue to be good, and guys bouncing a jig with Gulp! in the surf are taking fluke too.

Speaking of fluke, the Battle Of The Bulge Fluke Tournament between Ray and Scott has been delayed yet another day.  Last time, it was Ray that needed time to prepare.  This time, it was Scott that requested the delay.  Ray says he is delaying because he is scared…

Scott says no.  His body language says otherwise...
