Big Rocks and a Grand Reopening
First, shop news…
This Saturday (2/22/25), at 9:00 am in the shop, Big Rock lures will go on sale. We received a small drop of them. They will be one per customer, and only available in person.
Once you are done, head next door to Yakkity Yak’s Kayaks for their grand re-opening. They are going to have refreshments available, and of course, deals on kayaks and kaya related stuff. For example, if you buy a fishing kayak you get a free guided fishing trip with Scott and David. And this last part is an unadvertised perk, but there will be entertainment. Scott is planning to do a rendition of his own interpretive dance routine. Don’t miss this.
ODM has a new inshore/boat rod out. The ODM Terra Boat Rod has all the features you would want in a high end inshore or boat rod without the high end price tag. These are worth checking out.
ODM also recently released some new one-piece D.N.A Surf Rods. If the only thing keeping you from considering an ODM D.N.A. Surf rod was that it was 2 pieces, now is the time to re-visit the rods. There are one piece 9 foot, 10 foot and 10 foot 6 inch models.
Tsunami has come out with new pliers, entering the game of high quality pliers, without the high quality pliers price tag. Check out the Tsunami SaltX Stainless Steel pliers. We received a limited amount in our first order but have more on the way.
While we have had them in the shop for years, we have finally added Hopkins lures to the online store. One of the quintessential surf fishing lures, they work equally well from a boat, or even in fresh water.
Another lure that was a long time coming to the online store is the Acme Kastmaster spoon. This is another metal lure you should not be without.
We have also added Run-Off Lures Swimming Sand Eel to the online store. Whether from the surf or from a boat, make sure you have one of these when sand eels are present.
We have restocked the Van Staal hoodies, for those waiting for them.
We have also restocked the popular JigBox storage boxes.
As of the writing of this report, we are 8 days away from the opening of the back bays for striped bass, and the opening of winter flounder season. While the bay currently has a layer of ice on it (again), it isn’t as thick as last month and hopefully will be gone for March 1st. We plan to have bloodworms for opening day, and we have all the Striped Bass worm rigs, bay & river rigs, and Winter Flounder rigs you will need.
Here is a preview of Scott’s planned entertainment for Saturday…
