Nor'Easter Fishing Report

In shop news, we got in some Nomad Streaker jigs in the currently hard to find 120 gram size.  We have them both in the shop and online, so grab them while you can.

It wasn’t the best weather weekend for tourists this past weekend.  We also had some pretty awful winds for the boats too, but the surf fishermen who didn’t sit home were rewarded with some fluke and false albacore.

From Instagram, @afg12876 sent in some pictures of some fluke he landed in the surf on Gulp!

Also from Instagram, @jigginjohnson sent us a picture of a nice false albacore that fell for a resin jig

We had a weigh in at the shop that was NOT a fluke.  Rich Petrie weighed in a 4.4 pound, 16 inch triggerfish he caught using sand flea as bait.

We also got some reports of small striped bass in the surf.  Not many, but what we did hear was tat they were interested in clams or small paddle tails like kettle creek shads.

The blowfishing in the bay is still fantastic.  It is rivalling, of not exceeding, how good the surf fishing for fluke as been.  We have all the stuff you need for blowfish, including clam chum, salted clams, squid, and FishBites.

Ray is still on his camping vacation.  Today we heard there was a contest on jumping in the lake, judged similarly to diving in the Olympics.  Below is Ray’s best attempt.  He lost points for style, he lost points for distance, and he lost points for wearing 1980’s era white leather sneakers into the lake.  Basically, he just lost.

On a positive note, our apprentice rod builder, Chaka, has earned himself a drivers license.  Here he is taking his first solo cruise…
